Went hunting at Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show.
This time the theme was Rock Fashion.
I was a bit wishy washy about going cause it was already 3:30 when I stepped out and it was the last day.
Good hunter usually started early, hence all the cool stuff might be gone by today.
Walked to Metropolitan Pavilion and took my chance.
I had no plan on purchasing anything, but the show would be inspirational.
Browsed through the first few vendors.
Not interested in frills or just waaaaaay costly.
Then caught a Whiting & Davis gold mesh bib.
Pretty cool, I thought.
The lady was sweet enough to hold it for me for half an hour.
I got to ran around, touched every single piece in sight, tried on a Pucci glasses, a pair of funny mittens, saw 60% of the show then raced back to pick up the bib.
Got a fair deal and wore it right away.
the kick-ass bib worn under a scarf
Then found a marvelous rose gold Victorian riveted bracelet with diamonds.
The center diamond was crowned by this little flower just like my grandma's pierces!
Darn! A temptation.
The lady said she only took cash or check, no card. Huff! Passed! Thank God!
The vendor across had vintage necklaces.
Spotted a Givenchy piece. F*#%in' cool!
I thought of a friend whose b-day was coming up.
Maybe this would be good for her....
or an early Valentine present for myself?
Why not? For that price, I couldn't refuse.
I'd decide later...
There were 1920s night gowns scattered everywhere.
They were pretty pretty.. but rayon?
I'd never worn rayon. Man made was not my favorite.
Would it breathe well?
Silk would be good, but it'd be too fragile to wear everyday.
Passed.
The last vendor sold superb vintage sketches.
$750 a book.
Argh!!!!! I could only stood there and looked...
Should I pass the Victorian bracelet or took a detour?
It was calling me... I peeked, the lady got off the phone and made me try it on one more time.
10 mins to close. No, not going to run home and picked up the check book!
I left.
It was 6pm when I stepped out.
No time for Puck.
I wanted to catch Susannah.
Caught up for the week and went home.
My father called short after.
It's Saturday nite. Why aren't you out like the rest?
Well.. I'm 27. I've gone out dancing on Wednesday. It was enough for this week.
We had a wonderful time chatting and giggling.
No, he wasn't the one giggling, that would be bizarre!
I missed my sweet ol' daddy...
