l'orient

a little light in the darkest hour...

The first final was today for Window Display Design.
Mr. Bailey decided the theme, elegant, the rest were in our hand.

Eve's window was Hollywood drama.
Black and white tile laid out at the base.
Eduardo did an homage to Dali.
He took apart a wind-up clock and scattered around the little wheels
Victoria did high and low with newspaper as background.
Michael hung a Klimt's piece on the background and hmm.. I just realized I didn't know what he was selling... There were books, a belt, a cigarette case, and a pair of sunglasses.
A vintage store perhaps?

Between all the displays, I admired Maureen's the most.
It was totally cool to use those dried palm leaf fans as a base and had pearls hang all over them.
Fantastic!

the palm fan

My merchandise was the traditional japanese dish set that Miki's mum gave me on their last visit. The fan I received from Mrs. Oyama on my first trip to Japan.
A tribute to Mrs. Oyama~

the orient

My display was ok...
I wanted to have the fan lit from the back so it could show the morning glory and the butterfly, or even to create a halo around the fan.
I'd need to cut up the back panel if I wanted this effect.
Another way would be to have a light from the front to show the shadows of these details reflected on the back. Or perhaps custom made a fan with larger details would do.
Not possible at the moment. boof!

the flowers and the butterflies
