les biscuits buginese

Had a strange dream about my friend back home.

I went to visit his sick father in the hospital -- in fact, his father passed away long before I arrived in US.
And he was behaving like a stranger -- another weird situation since the fact was I was almost a part of his family; his cousin was my best friend ever!

Anyway, I decided to give him a call as soon as I woke up.
He told me whenever somebody closed to him had a dream about his dad, that meant he was sick.
He caught a cold or.. who knew.

It had been a while since I talked to him.
He hadn't changed and still teased me of love and marriage. oof!
Seemed like there was no escape being single and happy in Indonesia.
He was basically planning my wedding -- knock, knock, no bf in sight!
Advised me to find a rich man and had a big wedding.
My reply: "Hey, I don't care how many people are invited, 5, hundreds, or thousands doesn't make any difference. The only requirement is I have to have buginese cookies on my wedding day. Otherwise there is no point of having a wedding!"

Buginese Cookies:
I don't remember other ingredients are, but they always contain eggs and sugar!
These days, the good ones are hard to find, even in Makassar, because it is time consuming to make them.
If you are lucky to be invited to mappacci/tudang penni (night before the wedding where the family and relatives gather, pray, and give their blessings), you can taste the authentic Buginese Cookies made by the relatives from the village.
Oddly the native called them
Kanre Jawa = Javanese food, perhaps because the food in Java tends to be sweet.
Yumm~ yumm~
