un noël merveilleux

My dad's call woke me up today.
I wished him a merry x-mas and he laughed because he had converted to Moslem 30 years ago.

It was a beautiful day.
The sun was out and the sky was blue.
We dragged ourselves out of the bed and went sight seeing.

I took Leonora and her mother up to the roof.
It was wonderful, but chilly.
The first stop was supposed to be the the Empire State building, unfortunately, Kinko's was off.
No printer = no ticket.
So, we headed to Times Square instead.
Amazingly it wasn't crowded at all!
After a brief photo session at the square, we got in Madame Tussauds.
George Clooney's hand was freaky, cause it was almost real to the touch!

Around 3pm, we got home and had lunch.
Irina made creamy chicken potato soup and pasta with tomato and sour cream sauce for us.
Hmm.. life was good!

Then my mobile miaowed again, a familiar voice was on the line.
It was from my lovely aunt in France!
She said she didn't feel like writing cards this year, so instead she just called everybody.
Oh, how much I've missed her and her family.

I stayed home after because I had to wait for my parents' friends.
They were coming from Massachusetts to drop me my favorite fish dish from my hometown, Makassar.
Meanwhile, Leonora and her mother went to Rockefeller to take pictures at the gigantic tree.

Waited and waited some more, my parents' friend didn't show up.
They finally called and said they were coming tomorrow instead.
Fine.

Called up my sweet mom, it was her birthday.
She said her best friend, Tante Agnes, was taking her out to lunch today.
Golly! I loved Tante Agnes! She was the coolest out of my mother's high school friends.
I used to sleep over at her place (instead of our house) when I was in Jakarta because she was a good cook! Yes, wherever I go I am easily attached to people who cook well. ..
So I called up Tante Agnes and wished her a merry X-mas.
And before I could call any of my father's siblings, the phone card ran out on me.
Oh dear! It was never a brief conversation with her, but always a pleasant one!

To the Tungks and my dear friends, I wish you all a jolly Christmas! kiss kiss~
